Book Review: Eating the Dinosaur

Chuck Klosterman’s Eating the Dinosaur is the author’s latest collection of essays brimming with pop culture analysis about a seemingly innocuous array of people and events.  But as we explore the ephemera of pop culture with Klosterman, we begin to realize that these nearly forgotten artifacts from Americana actually have more to tell us about ourselves than we even thought could be possible.

Book Review: The Book of Basketball

Unlike other major sports the value of professional basketball players are not as easy to evaluate.  Records and statistics either don't tell the whole story or convey a misleading picture.  Several years ago in a televised interview Laker great Magic Johnson recounted when he was a younger player in high school his coach advised the 40 point scorer that if he wanted to win games he would have to concentrate less on scoring and focus on getting his teammates more involved.  He took his advice and from then on won championships through college and into the pros.
